課程概述 |
This course presents a
concise overview of
contemporary theories and
research regarding the
interaction between gender
and communication. Because
of the time allotted this
course cannot offer a
complete survey of the vast
and diverse research in to
the subject. Instead,
emphasis will be given to
several significant strands
of the research on factors
and contexts involved in
daily communication
including language,
nonverbal messages,
interpersonal and familial
relationships, educational
process, mass media, and
work place. Each class
session consists of
lectures, group exercises,
and case studies. Lecture
will serve to situate the
readings within broader
intellectual and
sociocultural contexts, and
to present some basic
premises and contemporary
research in the field. As
for in-class activities and
home assignments, students
will be asked to reflect
upon their own observations
and practices, allowing for
a closer analysis of the
readings and application of
theoretical principles to
their everyday
interactions. Students will
be expected to communicate
honestly and sensitively in
the classroom; however, they
are NOT required to reveal
any personal information
that they are not
comfortable sharing. |
